Welcome to your Professional Development blog community!

"Technology allows teachers and students to co-construct communities. It is in these communities that students interact with and learn from their peers. The communities they participate in encourage them to reach their potential."
-Konrad Glogowski, Blog of Proximal Development, http://www.teachandlearn.ca/blog/

This site is maintained for teachers participating in Learn2Blog classes. You  are welcome to browse through this site and use the materials to learn to use web logs in your classroom.

When teachers and students ask us why we want them to blog, we say - We want to hear you think aloud- with a public voice. But there is personal responsiblity to be excersied when blogging. Amanda LaBonar wrote the article "Personal responsibility needed when blogging" for the Marquette Tribune. Its a must read! This is how Anne Davis summarizes it:

  • Freedom of speech comes with personal responsibility.
  • Everything you post represents you.
  • I don't post anything I wouldn't be comfortable with anyone, from my parents to potential employers, viewing.
  • We complain about free speech being taken away, but we are giving away our privacy without a second thought.
  • I'm not bowing to the administration or running scared that something I might post will get me more then a slap on the wrist. I'm being realistic. These posts reflect you, and you never know who is looking at them.
